Welcome to our online magazine named “Survil’s Digest”. Realizing that we have so many family and friends, it was hard to keep everyone informed on what we have been up to. Here is our solution! Survil’s Digest! This is a blog about our lives and what we’ve done that month. There will be colored words within the paragraphs. When your mouse goes over them and shows a box, please click on those links. It will open up a new window to show you a picture that we designated for that section.
Some may not be interested in knowing our every move, but just like a magazine, you will be able to read the sections you would like to read. Every month, you will receive a new link and be able to view that ’Volume’.

Hospice Walk – June 5, 2010
Kim was able to participate in a wonderful cause! It was the 2010 Hospice Walk in Allegany. The walk was dear to everyone involved and Kim walked in memory of Rick Colburn, the father of our friend Jeff. It took place at the Alleghany River Trail and was approximately 3.0 miles. They raised over $19,000 for the cause! Isn’t that incredible?! There was a garden of flowers that remembered someone who died. It was very touching to see so many people being remembered. It was a very warm day and they walked and walked. Afterwards, they gathered to eat pizza and have snow cones. Prizes were announced as well! Kim was lucky to get to know three wonderful people, Kristen, Patti and Tamara! Looking forward to next year!
The OP Clam Bake - June 5, 2010
After the Hospice walk, there was the OP Clam Bake that is a huge Annual party where the locals gather, eat clams and drink endless draft beer from a truck! Jeremy and Kim met up with the group Kim walked with earlier that day and had quite a time! Unfortunately, there weren’t as many people there like there were in previous years, but it was still a good time. Great people watching opportunities though! We stayed for quite awhile and had a great time with old and new friends! There was a lot of beer drinking going on, and it was neat to have an event in walking distance, right around the corner in fact!
Jen’s Surprise 30th Birthday Party - June 12, 2010
Kim received a frantic Facebook email from her cousin Jay one day that said to call him asap! She did as the email instructed and he said that he was planning a surprise birthday party for his wife Jen at their home on June 12th. We were game! But we knew for sure Jen would find out because Jay usually can’t keep a secret haha. The day of the party, Jeremy and Kim drove up to Dunkirk, NY so he could measure a job. Kim sat patiently in the car for about an hour. The customer had him measure pretty much the entire home, when Jer went there just to measure a bathroom haha.
We then drove back down to Jamestown, NY to go to the party. Word in the yard was, Jen still had no idea, but everyone was in on it, even her bosses! We stood anxiously, waiting for her arrival. When she came down the stairs, she was crying and was completely surprised. What a wonderful husband Jay is! He actually pulled it off! It was fun to hang out with the family and Uncle Bill made his famous Pasta in a Pot. It was the first time Jeremy had tried it and he LOVED IT! Of course he would, Uncle Bill’s Pasta in a Pot is famous! We had to scoot out early because it had been a long day of driving, but the party was a huge success and way to go Jay!!!
Meet Ellie - June 21, 2010
First of all, Ellie does not have a custom license plate, but it still looked funny! It all started on June 15th. Kim was bored and had tossed the idea around to buy a newer vehicle that was a little safer in the winter time. The Saturn Ion wasn’t too dependable in the snow and with the long commute of 50 minutes to and from work, it was almost required for safety on our horrid highway that we call I-86. A few years back, she bought her Ion from Jim White’s Truck and Auto in Irving, NY. She decided to check out their website and found a Chevy Equinox (the car she was aiming for) and not badly priced. After calling about it the next day and submitting a pre-approval application at the Credit Union, the ball had started rolling a lot faster than she thought! Kim and Jeremy took a drive out to Irving to test drive the vehicle and start the negotiation process. There was a fairly large scrape on the side of the back bumper and almost completely bald tires. After some complaining, they were going to work on the scrape and replace all four tires free of charge.
The pickup date was after work on June 21st. She drove up with her shiny, clean Saturn (detailed by Pete Cresanti) and was ready for her new ride. Kim inspected the vehicle upon arrival and noticed that the scrape had been completely repaired and repainted! New tires were on too! Signing the paperwork was stressful but worth it. She even got a $100 cash referral bonus for referring herself BACK to the dealership for another vehicle purchase haha.
It’s a really nice vehicle! It does need the back shocks replaced, but it’s a 2006 and they probably haven’t been replaced yet on the car. We will get that done soon. So we’ve named her Ellie… Ellie the Equinox!!!
Parade & Carnival - June 24, 2010
It was Carnival Week from June 21st through June 24th. Kim came down with a nasty flu bug that kept her home on Friday June 23rd. She slept all day and all night and all day the next day. Jeremy forced her to go outside and sit on the sidewalk to watch the parade to try to get some fresh air. It did help some and helped her break her fever! They walked down to the Carnival for only about an hour or so. Kim didn’t want to push the issue on her touchy tummy, but it was fun to walk around some and hang out with friends. Hopefully next year, we can ride the ferris wheel!
Answering the Common Question…
How’s Married Life?
Married life is FANTASTIC! And we joke that “we haven’t killed each other yet!” We’ve gotten into a schedule now and things are moving a long quite nicely. We are having the most trouble with our budget, but we are realizing that it takes time to work out the kinks. We’ll figure it out eventually! We have the rest of our lives to do so! Kim is learning to cook some, but has really taken an interest in baking. Jeremy does a lot of the cooking and starts dinner before Kim arrives home. (He’s such a great guy!)
During the week is pretty dull. We get home, eat, watch tv, play on our computers and go to bed haha. Really uneventful! Friday’s are when Jeremy goes golfing with friends and Kim relaxes at home with her “Me Time”. She really enjoys some time by herself! Saturday’s are when Kim does a power-house clean throughout the entire house and does the laundry. When Jeremy comes home from work on Saturday afternoons, it’s pretty sparkly in the apartment! Sunday’s are when we lounge around and watch NASCAR and take a nap on the couch haha.
All-in-all, things are wonderful and we are happy to be married to each other! We grow closer every day and are enjoying every minute of it!
